Welcome to Solar Wizard
Solar Wizard calculates the potential to generate electricity from rooftop solar panels for homes in England, Scotland and Wales. It provides quick and independent predictions about the viability of solar PV on single buildings or groups of buildings.
Solar Wizard has been designed to be used by individual households, communities and local authorities.
Solar Wizard uses a number of datasets to generate building-specific estimates for power generation, costs and savings. It takes into account factors such as roof orientation and pitch, and the potential for overshadowing from nearby features like tall buildings or trees.

Find your building's solar potential
You can use Solar Wizard to search for a single address, such as your own home or other building in your community. Type in your postcode or any part of your address to search.
Local authorities
We also work with local authorities to make our solar data available as an interactive mapping tool. This service is intended to provide a resource for community groups and other organisations to help them to look for opportunities to set up solar projects in a given area, as well as to support the work of the local authority itself.
For an example, you can click here to view the data for the city of Birmingham.
In addition to the public-facing map interface, local authority staff and their project partners can set up user accounts to access additional analytical features, including the ability to select and view summary data for multiple buildings at once, to carry out more in-depth financial analyses, and to export the data for further review in other software packages.
